Count the shelf you claim to have

A stock figure nobody has checked is a wish. A short count of the parts you rely on is enough.
You do not need a warehouse system for a single site. You need to know whether the last treadmill clip is actually there.
Pick the short list: the parts that have closed a machine in the past year. Count them on a calm morning. Write the number. When a job uses one, change the number that day. If you cannot keep that up, the list is too long.
What a count is for
It stops the moment where two jobs think they own the same part. It also shows the part you have twelve of and have never fitted. Twelve unknown boards are not a success.
Do the count again when something does not match, not every day. A daily count of a small shelf becomes fiction faster than a monthly one that people believe.
If a contractor keeps their own van stock, it is not your shelf. Do not write it as on hand.
