Stock the parts that actually stop the floor

A shelf of random leftovers is not stock. Keep the parts that turn a closed machine into an open one this week.
Look at the jobs that waited. The parts that show up more than once are the ones worth a small shelf: common pins, the clips for the treadmills you own, the belts you have replaced before, fuses you are allowed to change, and the upholstery fixings that always go missing.
Do not stock a motor “just in case” if you have one treadmill and a supplier who can come. Capital on a shelf is not a virtue. A missing pin that closes a bench for a fortnight is a failure of the shelf.
Name them
A bin called “bits” will be raided and not refilled. A label with the machine family and the part is enough. When you use one, write it on the work order the same day. Stock that is not reduced on the job is fiction.
If a part is the last one, the job that uses it should say so. The next order starts then, not when the second machine fails.
