Monday is for what the weekend actually did

Do not start Monday with a plan you wrote on Friday. Start with the faults the weekend left.
Weekends are when the floor is busiest and the maintenance staff is thinnest. Monday’s first hour is a reading hour: new faults, machines still out of service, jobs that were waiting on a part which may now be in.
Then walk. The list and the floor disagree often on a Monday. A sign fell off. A member put a machine back. A fault was reported on the wrong asset because two bikes look the same.
Then the plan
Only after that do you look at the recurring work. If the unsafe list is long, the monthly cable check waits. Say so, so the monthly check becomes honestly overdue instead of fake-done.
Do not spend Monday rebuilding the names of machines. If the names failed over the weekend, fix the one that was confused, and leave a rename project for a quieter week.
The person who opens Monday should be able to do this without the person who closed Sunday. That is the test of the register.

Tell a member the status, not the internal argument
The useful sentence is whether they can use it, and whether you already know. The part number is not for the floor.
Reset the rig to a known plan after class
A rig left as the last workout set it is a different machine. The closer puts it back and notes what broke.
Find the model and serial number on gym equipment
The model and serial are on a plate on the frame or inside the console bay. Photograph them. If the plate is gone, say so. Do not invent a number.
