Draw zones a person can walk
26.2.2021 · 1 min lukuaika
Floors, rooms, and zones are how someone finds a machine without calling the person who installed it.
A site is not one big room in the register, even when the building feels like one. The floor team finds equipment by walking: strength, cardio, studio, free weights, the corridor where the stretch mats live.
Name zones the way the team already talks. If everyone says “the mezzanine”, do not file it as “level 1 annex B”. The register should match the sentence a trainer uses on the radio.
What to record
- Site, then floor, then room or zone.
- A short note if the zone is easy to confuse with another.
- The usual route in, if the machine sits behind a class timetable.
When a machine moves, change the place and keep the old one on the trail. “It used to be on the mezzanine” is part of the history. Deleting the old place makes the next fault harder to match.
One site on a small gym is still worth splitting into zones. Otherwise every search returns the whole floor.

Tell a member the status, not the internal argument
The useful sentence is whether they can use it, and whether you already know. The part number is not for the floor.
Reset the rig to a known plan after class
A rig left as the last workout set it is a different machine. The closer puts it back and notes what broke.
Find the model and serial number on gym equipment
The model and serial are on a plate on the frame or inside the console bay. Photograph them. If the plate is gone, say so. Do not invent a number.
