A small studio still needs one file per machine

Ten assets are not ‘small enough to remember’. The trainer who is off this week is the proof.
Studios skip the register because the owner can see every machine from the desk. That works until the owner is teaching, ill, or gone. The substitute does not know which bench rocks.
One file per machine, a status, and a place for a fault is the whole system at this size. You do not need zones with poetic names. You do need “bench 2” to mean one bench.
Clients are reporters
A client who says the rower felt wrong is a fault, even in a room where you heard it yourself. Write it. Your memory of that hour will not be available in a month when the chain is replaced and the question is whether this is new.
Kits you take to clients’ homes are still assets. A trolley of bands is easy to lose. A note of what left the studio and what came back prevents the slow shrink of the kit.
Small does not mean the public page is unnecessary. A client alone between sessions is the same problem as a hotel guest.

Tell a member the status, not the internal argument
The useful sentence is whether they can use it, and whether you already know. The part number is not for the floor.
Reset the rig to a known plan after class
A rig left as the last workout set it is a different machine. The closer puts it back and notes what broke.
Find the model and serial number on gym equipment
The model and serial are on a plate on the frame or inside the console bay. Photograph them. If the plate is gone, say so. Do not invent a number.
