A manager’s name on a walk they did not do makes the next fail unbelievable.
Inspections are only as good as the eyes that did them. The name on the record should be the person who stood at the machine. If a trainee looked and a lead checked the unsafe items, both names can be there. A single borrowed name cannot.
This is not about blame. It is about being able to ask a question later. “What did the cable look like?” is a question for the person who saw it.
If nobody qualified is in
Do not invent a completed inspection. Record that it was not done. A gap is safer than a false pass, because the next person will still look.
New staff should do the walk with someone once, then sign their own. Watching forever means the list belongs to one person, and it stops when they are on leave.
The public page does not need the inspector’s name. The asset does.
