Kit in a children’s area is still equipment

Smaller does not mean informal. A broken hold, a loose bolt, or a torn mat is a fault with a status.
If your site has a play corner or light equipment children use, name it and inspect it. Torn mats become trip edges. Loose bolts on a small frame are the same fault as on a large one. A hold that spins is out of use.
Parents will move things. Your closing walk puts them back and notes what was damaged, rather than assuming the damage is “just play”.
Separation
Adult kit does not migrate into that area because you are short of space, unless you have decided it is safe and written that. A dumbbell left in a play corner is a fault in the zone, found on the walk, not a mystery.
Report paths should be obvious to the adult, not to the child. The code sits where a parent can scan it. A fault from a parent is a fault.
Do not use this area as storage for retired iron. Retired means out of reach, not “where the small ones are”.

Clearance is a condition of the machine
A treadmill too close to a mirror, or a rack too close to a walkway, will be reported as the machine’s fault. Measure it once.
A hot smell is a stop, not a note for later
Hot insulation, a warm plug, or a console that smells sweet and sharp: take the machine off and do not switch it back on to ‘see’.
Accessibility equipment is not a side cupboard
A lift, a ramp, or an adaptive machine that is out of service is a closed door, not a spare.
