Show members the name and the status, nothing else
23. sep. 2021 · 1 mín lestur
The public page is for the person standing at the machine. Cost, blame, and internal notes do not belong there.
A member scans a code because something feels wrong, or because they want to know if the machine is meant to be off. They need the name, the status, and a way to report. They do not need the purchase price, the name of the technician who is late, or a note about a staff argument.
Keep the public page dull on purpose. Dull is trustworthy. A page full of internal fields teaches members to ignore it, or to screenshot the wrong thing.
What they can send back
A short description, a photo if they have one, and a way to be told when it is fixed if they want that. A rating is allowed as a signal. It is not a work order, and it should not look like one.
If the machine is out of service, say so in the same words as the sign. If it is active, do not apologise in advance. The page is a fact, not a marketing line.
Review the page once after you set it up, standing at the machine with your own phone. If you can see a cost or a staff name, take it off.

Tell a member the status, not the internal argument
The useful sentence is whether they can use it, and whether you already know. The part number is not for the floor.
Reset the rig to a known plan after class
A rig left as the last workout set it is a different machine. The closer puts it back and notes what broke.
Find the model and serial number on gym equipment
The model and serial are on a plate on the frame or inside the console bay. Photograph them. If the plate is gone, say so. Do not invent a number.
