A chain needs the same file, read across sites

Head office does not need a different kind of truth. It needs the same jobs, visible together.
The mistake when a second site opens is to invent a new way of naming machines and a new sheet for “the group”. The sites then cannot be compared because the words differ.
Use the same statuses, the same idea of a fault versus a job, and the same way of writing cost and downtime. Then a cross-site view is just those files side by side. A special report that asks each manager to retype the month is a tax, and the numbers will drift.
What is actually different
Who may approve a spend, who owns the assets, and which supplier covers which site. That is governance. It is not a reason to change what a trainer records on the floor.
A machine that moves between sites keeps one history. Splitting it so each site has a clean start throws away the reason it was moved.
If one site is diligent and another is not, the report should show the gap as missing records, not as a mysteriously perfect month.
