After a busy weekend, look for what loosened
10 ta’ Set, 2024 · 1 min qari
High use shows up as walked belts, sweaty posts, loose collars, and faults reported late.
A quiet Tuesday can hide a hard Saturday. The checks after a peak are specific: treadmill belts that walked, bike posts that will not hold, collars missing from bars, pins on the floor, and any fault that was reported and not yet read.
Do not “reset the gym” by putting equipment back and clearing the list. Putting a collar back is good. Clearing a fault you have not read is not.
Sweat is a clue
Salt lines on posts and consoles tell you where use was heavy. That is where weekly wear will show first. It is also where a wipe is maintenance-adjacent. Look after you clean, not instead of looking.
If a class programme changed and one machine suddenly has three faults, the programme may be the cause. Note it on the asset. The next timetable conversation needs that, not a feeling that “members are rougher”.

Rain and mud arrive on the first machines
The bikes and treadmills nearest the door take the water. Their faults are often the entrance, not the brand.
After a move, assume something loosened
Feet, shrouds, console leads, and anchors shift in a move. Check them the same day, on the same asset.
Belt dust is a maintenance clue
Black dust under a treadmill is not only dirt. It is the belt or the deck telling you they are wearing.
