Separate cleaning from maintenance

A wipe-down is not a service. A service is not a reason to skip the wipe-down. The register should not mix them.
Cleaning keeps sweat and chalk from becoming a fault. Maintenance finds the fault. If you record every wipe as a service, the history says the machine is cared for when nobody has looked at the cable.
Give cleaning its own rhythm and do not clutter the work orders with it. Give maintenance the inspections and the jobs. Where they meet, say so: salt on a seat post, chalk in a carriage, a wet console. Those are cleaning items that became maintenance because they were left.
What cleaners should be allowed to report
A frayed cable, a rocking bench, water in the wrong place, a machine that will not switch on. They should not be asked to tension a belt. The report is enough. The job belongs to whoever is competent.
If the night clean finds the same issue three times, the issue is not a cleaning note anymore. Open the fault. Repeating it on a clipboard is how it stays nobody’s job.

Rain and mud arrive on the first machines

Feet, shrouds, console leads, and anchors shift in a move. Check them the same day, on the same asset.
Belt dust is a maintenance clue
Black dust under a treadmill is not only dirt. It is the belt or the deck telling you they are wearing.
