Name the part on the job, not in someone’s memory

‘The usual cable’ is not a part. The next order will be wrong, and the history will not show what was fitted.
When a part is used, the work order gets the name you would use to order it again: the maker’s number if you have it, or a clear description and which machine it came from. A photo of the old part next to a ruler beats a poetic name.
If you fitted something that is not quite the original, say so. “Equivalent belt, 2 mm narrower” is a fact the next failure needs. Pretending it was the original part makes the next diagnosis lie.
Used, not just ordered
Ordered and used are different lines. A part can arrive and sit. The job is not finished, and the stock is not reduced, until it is fitted or returned.
If you take a part off and keep it as a core for warranty, label it with the asset code and the job. A loose motor on a bench is how serial numbers get swapped in the story.

The bikes and treadmills nearest the door take the water. Their faults are often the entrance, not the brand.
After a move, assume something loosened
Feet, shrouds, console leads, and anchors shift in a move. Check them the same day, on the same asset.
Belt dust is a maintenance clue
Black dust under a treadmill is not only dirt. It is the belt or the deck telling you they are wearing.
