Use the monthly check for what the weekly walk cannot see

Weekly catches what is obvious. Monthly is for shrouds, torque, wear that hides, and the machines nobody likes to service.
If the monthly check repeats the weekly walk, you will skip it. Monthly is for work that needs a tool or a quiet floor: covers off, cable condition along the length you cannot see, belt tension, console errors in the log, welds at the feet, and anchor bolts.
Pick a set you can finish. Ten machines done properly is better than the whole floor marked done in a hurry before a class.
Leave the cover story on the job
If you opened a shroud, say so, and say whether you found debris, a chewed cable, or nothing. “Serviced” is not a finding.
Schedule the monthly work as jobs, not as a hope. An overdue monthly is visible. A monthly that lives in a diary is not.
Do not save every monthly for the contractor if your own team can see the obvious wear. Contractors are for what you cannot safely do. Your eyes are for the rest.

Rain and mud arrive on the first machines
The bikes and treadmills nearest the door take the water. Their faults are often the entrance, not the brand.
After a move, assume something loosened
Feet, shrouds, console leads, and anchors shift in a move. Check them the same day, on the same asset.
Belt dust is a maintenance clue
Black dust under a treadmill is not only dirt. It is the belt or the deck telling you they are wearing.
