Hammer Strength

Hammer Strength is the American plate-loaded strength line associated with Life Fitness. The machines are built for heavy commercial use and are common on strength floors.

There is no stack pin to hide behind. Bushings, pivots and pads are the record. A Hammer Strength machine is not filed as Life Fitness cardio.

Parts to write on the job

• Bushing

  Play in a pivot is a bushing or a bearing until you look. Write which pivot, and what you fitted.

• Bearing

  Record the size from the old bearing. Spraying a noisy pivot until it is quiet hides the play.

• Upholstery

  Photograph the pad and name the machine. Recovering ‘the blue one’ is how the wrong bench is sent out.

• Cable

  Write which run you replaced, and whether the rest of the cable stayed. A visible fray is not the whole cable.
